Beautiful Grounds.

All residents and their guests are welcome to use the garden. The advantages of such a large, pleasant and ‘private’ garden are obvious, but the principle of this common amenity involves the individual in consideration for others as well.

Originally, Paragon Lessees were granted the right to use the garden area behind (and in front of) the appropriate house. However, when the refurbishment of The Paragon was completed during the 1950’s, it was agreed by the then Lessees that the garden would be regarded as a single unit and maintained as such. A unified design was made for relatively easy maintenance and suitability, and this design is still in being, although it has been modified by experience and such natural changes as the 1987 gales brought, for example.

A gardening staff maintain the garden for the enjoyment of all, however residents at garden level are encouraged to tend the beds outside their windows with the agreement of the Garden Director (contact form here), provided the care is continuous and to a reasonable standard compatible with that of the garden plan in general.

If a large party is proposed, the Garden Director must be notified (contact form here) so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Residents in adjacent houses should be informed. This provision is particularly important if the party-givers would like to use a marquee.

The Garden of Paragon House.

Please respect the integrity of the garden of Paragon House at the west end of our communal garden. The Paragon House garden is private to its residents and is maintained separately by them. The boundary of this garden runs parallel with Pond Road along a line extending from the fence between Cator Lodge and Cator Manor, down to the boundary of the Pond Road Estate and includes the Pond Road garages and their forecourt. There is no access for Paragon residents across this garden.
